| Sabre Outreach Network's OUTREACH PROGRAMS 2009 - 2010 SCHOOL YEAR Sabre Outreach Network's Vision Our strongest committment is still to further the advancement and public awareness of fencing in South Florida by developing and maintaining close working partnerships with select schools, homeschool groups, and recreation centers throughout the area. Sabre Outreach Network and our Partners continually work together to build success driven fencing programs and competitive fencing teams with every SON Select Partner. We foster and encourage strong fencer and family involvement at all times. Every SON Select Program is linked together through the South Florida Scholastic Fencing League (SFSFL). The SFSFL offers a competitive outlet for every fencer in our program; beginner, novice and competitor. It is our hope that fencing will open new, exciting challenges and opportunities to all of our students; college resume enhancement, possibly college recruitment for the very best, and, of course, the joy of sport and the thrill of the game for each and every person we touch. We are continually looking to add new school, homeschool, and rec center partners to our list of successful programs and teams. | A STUDY OF PERCEPTIONS OF FENCING by Experts, Fencers & Parents Regarding the Correlation of Fencing Training & Attaining the Qualities of Success by Dan Berliner - May 2004 FOR COMPLETE THESIS CLICK HERE Exerpt from A STUDY OF PERCEPTIONS: "Training as a fencer teches a person a number of characteristics associated with the qualities of successful people." "suc-cess" - a process of the way one conducts their life, embodying attitudes and beliefs about oneself, their life pursuits, and their ways of relating to others. This thesis will attempt to prove that the qualities we use to be successful in fencing are the same as in life. You need to be honorable, dedicated, persevering, intelligent, and able to think on your feet. In fencing you need to use a blend of all these things at once to become successful ... in life, these aspects apply in business, schoolwork, and day-to-day life, and will help you to achieve greater success in all of them... It has been determined, through the course of this thesis, that training in the sport of fencing may be a psoitive contributing factor in the development of character traits and attributes of successful people... experts... believe there is a direct correlation between the qualities of successful fencers and success qualities in general, and... fencing training in general enhances the development of these qualities. recreational fencers and the parents of youth fencers ... overwhelmingly believe that gains were made, in relatively short periods of time, in almost all of the attributes of success that were presented to them...
