Over the weekend the School Spirit Circuit held its second multi-meet of the season at DuelLIFE Olympic Fencing Center. Five squads set out to compete on Sunday, this made for a team count of 11. The North Broward Prep squad fielded one team on each strip (3 strips, a,b,c), each of these teams were able to win their respective strips. North Broward Prep, for the first time in multi-meet history of the SSC, was the first team to sweep the entire day.
On the “A Strip” AJ Qureshi of North Broward Preparatory again displayed his dominance, finishing the day 9-0. AJ is now 18-0 during multi-meet competition this season, and a League leading 20-1 total record. For Broward County Home School Group both Alex Hintze and Ethan Watts had stellar days. Hintze finished the day 7-2, his only losses came to Qureshi of North Broward, and Vassall of Pembroke Pines Charter High School. Ethan Watts finished the day 6-3 and was able to win a crucial bout in the late rounds of a tight match against North Broward Prep. Ariel Croitoru of DuelLIFE Olympic Fencing Center was also able to finish the day with a record of 6-3, moving him to 17-4 on the season, good enough for second place on the season statistics to date. The leading team after the event was North Broward Preparatory School who edged out DuelLIFE Olympic Fencing Center by a score of 18-17. This puts North Broward’s “A Strip” team only 2 bouts behind DuelLIFE on the season.
“B Strip” saw one dominant force throughout the day, that was the North Broward Prep combo of Drysdale and Piedimonte, who finished the day 23-1 between the two of them. They are tied for the League lead in the “B Strip” MVP race of the season, both achieving records of 19-2. Tomer Zilberstein, of RASG Hebrew Academy, again was able to carry his team, finishing the day 10-2 earning around 75% of his teams total victories on the day. For DuelLIFE Olympic Fencing Center Matthew Davison had a breakout day finishing 9-3 and helping DuelLIFE earn the second spot. After Sunday Davison moved up to the 4th ranked fencer of the “B Strip” League Statistics.
North Broward Preparatory School won the “C Strip” multi-meet for the second time this season, defeating DuelLIFE Olympic Fencing Center 14-4. Atara Greenbaum and William Julien, both of North Broward Prep, are tied with a League leading 11 victories. For DuelLIFE Olympic Fencing Center, Nick Seeger earned 3/4 of his team’s total victories.
